Jesus tells His disciples, “ Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all [these] things are done in parables.” (Mark 4:11) In other words a believer (a follower of Christ is to understand the mystery.
The mystery of God is mentioned in 22 different verses of the Bible. The mystery started before the world was created. Paul says “we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Cor 2:7-8)
Elsewhere, Paul says “this message (mystery) was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to his own holy people. for this is the secret (mystery): Christ lives in you, and this is your assurance that you will share in his glory. (Col 1:26-27)
