Our Pilgrimage

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

About two years ago I read "The Pilgrim" Progress by John Bunyan. As I read the book I was impressed with the thought that Bunyan through the pilgrimage of "Christian" was exposing the problem with the "Christian Movement" that exist today (2013).

As one reads this book and examime the illustrations (events, places and people) that Christian meets and his and their interaction, we will see ourselves and "our pilgrimage". We will recognize that we have encountered many of the people, events, and places that the pilgrim (christian) encounters.

I was so impressed with the book, that I am teaching/preaching through the book this year and alsoI am developing a course of study available to anyone free of charge at www.pilgrim-institute.org .

God's Mystery (Plan)

Blog written by Pastor Charlie of Four Soils Ministry

The mystery of God is mentioned in 22 different verses of the Bible. The mystery started before the world was created.

Paul says “we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Cor 2:7-8)

Because of the freedom God has granted man, God’s plan for the crucifixion of Christ had to be kept secret. The crucifixion wad a foreordained event (predestined), however the individual’s faith in the event is foreknown by God, but not foreordained. God in His sovereignty has granted freedom to all mankind.

Greatest Mystery Ever

Blog written by Pastor Charlie of Four Soils Ministry

Jesus tells His disciples, “ Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all [these] things are done in parables.” (Mark 4:11) In other words a believer (a follower of Christ is to understand the mystery.

Elsewhere, Paul says “this message (mystery) was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to his own holy people. for this is the secret (mystery): Christ lives in you, and this is your assurance that you will share in his glory. (Col 1:26-27)

God's Mystery Finished

Blog written by Pastor Charlie of Four Soils Ministry

God created a plan and kept it a mystery, which was foreordained before the world was created and then kept secret for thousands of years until the cross (Jesus and Him crucified)(1 Cor 2:7).

The mystery of God started before the world began and will end (completely revealed) at the end of the age when Jesus comes again. Are you ready for His Coming?

but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets. (Revelation 10:7)

God's Mystery the church

God has given us a number of verses in His holy Word that explains His mystery. Eph 5:32 states “This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.” Just as Christ’s crucifixion was God’s plan before the world was created, the church was God’s planned people. In the next few weeks we will looking at how God used Israel as a living parable (a shadow or example) to show us Himself and what He requires of man.

1 Cor 10:11 states “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition (warning), upon whom the ends of the world are come.”

Four Soils Ministry has developed a unique Bible study that covers the entire Bible with central focus on Jesus and Him crucified.

God's Mystery

Blog written by Pastor Charlie of Four Soils Ministry

God created a plan and kept it a mystery, which was foreordained before the world was created and then kept secret for thousands of years until the cross (Jesus and Him crucified)(1 Cor 2:7).

God’s mystery (plan), which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (Col 1:26)

In the beginning God created (Gen 1:1). God existed before the creation of the earth. The world did not happen by chance. The Bible tells us that God actually had a plan in place for this creation prior to Him creating it.

In the book of Corinthians Paul says he speaks the wisdom (plan) of God in a mystery, which was foreordained before the world was created and then kept secret for thousands of years until the cross (Jesus and Him crucified). Paul goes on to say that if God had not kept it a secret the human rulers (and Satan) would have tried to spoil God’s plan by not crucifying Jesus (1 Cor 2:7-8).

This is a key thought in the understanding of the doctrines of the “free will” of man and the “sovereignty” of God and how they co-exist. God’s plan of Jesus’ crucifixion was put in place (foreordained) before the world was created. Because of the foreknowledge of God, He foreknew of the evil activities of Satan and put a plan in place to defeat him.

Peter says in the last days there will be scoffers who will laugh at the truth and do every evil thing they desire. They will say "Jesus promised to come back, did he? Then where is he? Why, as far back as anyone can remember, everything has remained exactly the same since the world was first created." They forget that God made the heavens by the word of His command and He destroyed the world with a mighty flood. God has also commanded that the heavens and the earth will be consumed by fire on the day of judgment, when ungodly people will perish.

A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise to return, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and everything in them will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be exposed to judgment. (1Peter 3:1-10)

In the book of 2 Timothy, Paul tells Timothy that he had been taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they had given him the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. Paul goes on to say that all of Scripture is inspired by God, that it is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives, that it straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right, that it is God's way of preparing us in every way, and that it fully equips us for every good thing God wants us to do. (2 Tim 3:15-17)

The purpose of this blog and of Four Soils Ministry is to encourage the understanding and application of God’s Word. The Word of God is a schoolmaster that points a person to Jesus Christ.
